Use a thermal camera on your connections and internal wires to see what they show.

If at a hotel and you can park near your window then as soon as it gets dark the extension cable goes out of the window.

First time I used a Tesla, I lived off a granny cable (typical mains plug) for months without issue. We then had an electrician scheduled to come to the house anyway so added a wall box so as to take full advantage of the overnight tariff window. As it was easy to do in our location, there was no big cost involved. Granny cable works fine for those not doing regular long distance trips, such as sales reps or the like. As my typical mileage is modest, I was fully covered by the granny cable, plugged into the standard wall socket.

I have used a granny charger almost exclusively for 8 years, 3 different EVs, 110,000 miles in total. I get about 40 miles range overnight for 42p on Octopus Intelligent Go. I don't do 40 miles a day, so can easily accumulate enough charge for occasional longer trips by charging on successive nights.

When I lived in Australia, I was the poster boy of someone who shouldn't be driving an electric car - and it STILL WORKED.
I had a Chery Omoda and had to charge off a 3 pin 15Amp socket (Rental house).
My commute each day was 3 hours - 270km a day, and it was a flat-out 100- 110 kph freeway drive. Actual range at that was 350 km-ish.
Plugged it in when I got home - fully charged when I left.
Still had to listen to idiots telling me EVs were only for city drivers who only drove short journeys, ROFL.

Another thing you can get the blue 16 or even 32A socket installed for cheap and use tesla mobile charger at much greater power levels.
If you have a wire going to double UK socket you could probably swap it for one blue 16A socket without running new wire, because most of the time, wire isn't the limit, it's the UK socket.
*not a pro advice, consult your favt sparky for exact info

Absolutely correct, I currently use the granny charger that came with my car and I am going to buy the dé EV Charger that you have featured in your video, it seems like a well built and flexible design.

I’ve been using one of those for a year without any issues. Here in the Netherlands, we have standard 16A sockets, and I use it at 13A—the plug doesn't even get warm.

I used the granny charger for the first month or so till I had an AC charge point ( Hypervolt ) fitted. I still use it when visting my folks and occasionally on holiday. Always agreed up front. Never on the sly.

The Dé 3kw three pin charger. It is an ideal solution for anyone wanting to just use a standard wall plug at home. Dè offer chargers with UP TO 20m of cable if required. Really brilliant, useful design.
