I saw this movie in London in 1971 where people smoke in the theater which added to the battle scene with so much smoke in the air.

Fun fact… even if the French won at Waterloo the allies still has almost one million soldiers available to fight the next battle.

My two favorite scenes are when Napoleon (stiger) screams I will not not NOT! ABDICATE! The other is when Napoleon says those men on gray horses are truly terrifying! His aid says the most noble Calvary in all of Europe! Napoleon replys and the worst led match them with our lancers and you hear the bugles sound and the lancers set for charge .

Ahh... Practical effects. Thousands of extras. No CGI. Immaculate set design. Amazing costumes. And filmed with actual colour, light and warmth opposed to most modern historical films deciding to wash everything out and make it look matte and grey. This is a style and age of film making never to return but I'm glad we got it.
