  If i met this man today &amp; knew nothing about him, just on speech alone.. never would have guessed he had that path in life. <br>Point being, you never know someone’s background.

  I left El Salvador at 17 back in 1993 because as a teenage boy, you had choice, but to join one or the other gang or get chased every day by both.

  People who didnt live in LA during the 80s-early 90s will never understand how it was. Even if you weren&apos;t from a hood, it was just everywhere and knew someone from &nbsp;a click.

  Alex, thank you, your story is the same as mine, the difference is no father, just my mother. A lot of us don&apos;t want to talk about it. What those bullies didn&apos;t know was that we were coming from a place that surviving was the only thing we knew, a place where we walk through bodies on the side of the road on the way to school, a place where neighbors would screw crying at night because someone was taken and was never to see again, from a place where a combat was happening right in front or back of our home. We were already at a different level of life in which they were not.<br><br>Came to L.A. did not join any gang but had some friends that joined.<br><br>I could say that at times I thought that I&apos;d rather be in El salvador than dealing with a life change that marked me for life, both did, there and here.<br><br>Lots of people only see bad things about MS but don&apos;t know or don&apos;t want to know what was behind the making of the group.<br><br>Take care hermano....

  You should interview the victims of gang violence, they have the other side of the story. This man has a long history of wrong doing.

  Thank you for having Alex, he&apos;s the man behind Homies Unidos who does a lot of positive things in my old neighborhood of Pico/Union and keeps kids away from drugs and gangs.

  El Salvador is 100% prospering with all of those MS-13 thugs locked up. Bukele is the best that has happened to that country. Vendors are back out on the streets. Families are out late and night, even camping and enjoying life again. The new Costa Rica
