When I was 45, my Pre-teen got diagnosed with ADHD, which completely made me understand my whole life.

Wow, I wish I could sit down with you and discuss this topic. You're (obviously) a high IQ person dealing with ADHD. I'm a nuclear physicist with ADHD and I've noticed people are always wary of those with high IQ's. If you're talented in any other way, people admire you, however, if you're smart people automatically assume you're arrogant. My experience is those with the highest IQ's are usually the most humble. I mention this because I believe a high IQ only exacerbates ADHD symptoms and the negative self talk especially. Imagine knowing you're really smart, yet you can't accomplish anything and don't understand why. The negative self talk ramps up exponentially. Mel, you are a true gift and I've learned a lot from you. I look up to you for the way you've become successful, in spite of ADHD. Maybe you would consider doing an episode on the struggles the gifted have with this disorder? People assume if you're gifted, life is automatically a bowl of cherries for you, it's not. I believe with ADHD struggles are even greater for those of us that want to do good things and use our gift to better humanity, as you have. You've found the formula and I admire and applaud you for it. Please keep up the good workQ

I'm 62 and feel like my life has passed me by. I've always been overwhelmed with worrying about failing or that I wasn't good enough or they don't want me anyway so why bother, I'll just be making a fool of myself. But I never understood why I felt this way. Or why these feelings were so strong that it would feel like I was frozen and couldn't move. I haven't been diagnosed with ADHD but it's been brought to attention that I might want to look into it. And after seeing this I can see why. Thank you for sharing this.
