The lesson here was that they should have sold when the business was valued at 5 billion.

I worked for Forever 21 at a very busy LA mall. Within two days of working there, I knew I had to quit. The environment was brutal and it was evident that employees were overlooked. Employees were treated like servants and managers demanded you work until 2am to tidy the store at minimum wage and no overtime.

I worked at Forever 21 for almost 2 years. Theyd schedule you to work 5h 45m so they dont have to give you a lunch. I also only got a $0.35 raise in 1 year because they said I didnt dress fashionable enough.... majority of my clothes were from that store... and none of us were dressing all that nice because we were getting paid peanuts.

How ironic; Job <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMcxe73Tucs&t=81">1:21</a> - "The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away".

I worked at Forever corporate office as assistant buyer for casual wear in 2004 , and every single department buy had to be approved through Mrs. Chang. She was a very hard working woman, even when she didnt have to be. but honestly I knew the way how the internal was ran, wouldnt be sustainable long term. They tried to skim on everything, and most importantly wasnt caring enough on trend forcasting, and approved super plain or ugly styles bc it was cheaper. while mainly focused on expansion. I kept trying to ask my superiors at that time, dont they think styles are more important than getting the cheapest deals? .. but that was Mrs. Changs direction. It's so crazy how i just knew the fast expansion would hurt more than do well, even super early on. They also expected u to work overtime everyday and get shit pay. They had so much opportunity to be ahead, and innovate but didn't care about the customers or employees. I think zara knew that the product is most important , as i always kept trying to push that idea while working at Forever

A couple of friends worked at their corporate office and said they were the worst, rudest employers. Demanding 12 hr days, no overtime paid. No Paid Holidays. Constantly verbally abusing employees, etc

They have John 3:16 printed on their shopping bag but constantly running foul of legal infringements and running sweat shop operation to produce $5 merchandise. They violated their own principles by 'stealing' and slavery.
