  That lady with the dog on the leash while waves were going over the dogs head, she needs someone to put her on a leash while waves spill over her head for a good 5 minutes or so.

  There is something strangely beautiful about watching a storm roll in over the ocean even when it's terrifying. The power, the color of the sky, the way everything goes quiet right before it hits. Nature is brutal and breathtaking at the same time

  Basically Sneaker and Rogue waves are mini Tsunami's that have a lot of volume of water behind them as they travel across the Pacific.  As a long time surfer in SoCal you learn to read the ocean when looking at it, and still you cannot tell when one giant swell is going to turn into a sneaker wave, but I have seen many over my lifetime.  Never turn you back on the ocean, and listen to the beach forecasts is your best protection.....This summer in Santa Cruz just 1 week ago- where I go often, there were two major incidents of sneaker waves, 1 fatal for some girls laying on their blankets on the beach thinking they were safe,  and the other almost fatal for a 10 year old boy- if not for the bravery of a 16 year old lifeguard......who is headed to the White House to receive an award for his bravery.
