  Having grown up attending an evangelical church, and having spent a lot of time in an evangelical family - I know first hand how they are. She, Jennifer, is sugar coating them. Yes, there are many evangelicals who are kind, but their kindness is a front. They ARE constantly judging other people, and they really, REALLY hate secular people. Unless you convert to their religion - they really believe that you are going to hell, and that you SHOULD go to hell, when you die. Growing up exposed to their religion, and the people that believe that stuff contributed to me developing CPTSD.

  I'm sure you've seen the discussion between Matt Walsh and some other Christian nationalist. The other guy remarks about Talerico, "They should kill him." Matt Walsh replies, because he has to show that he's a better Christian, and has more hate to prove it, "They should crucify him."  and I'm sure these two feel that they're just filled with the love of Jesus. Nobody needs that. Nobody wants that. Nobody should have that.

  As a Non christian- (Pagan) and I think most non Christians can attest to this,Overall, the group that have treated us the worst and are the most disrespectful are the most devout White Christians.

  Jennifer Welch doesn&apos;t mean that it&apos;s only the Evangelicals in power who are guilty of this horrible behavior, because she knows damn well that millions of Evangelicals voted for and support it. Her statement is a generalization that is highly accurate. Whether or not someone is &quot;nice&quot; or &quot;moral&quot; makes no difference if they continue to vote for monsters.

  The most judgmental, hateful people I&apos;ve ever encountered growing up in Bible Belt USA have been self-proclaimed &quot;loving&quot; Christians.

  If a survey found that Evangelicals spend 12 times as much for disaster relief and food banks as they spend hunting the homeless for sport, that wouldn&apos;t be any reason to stop criticizing them for hunting the homeless for sport.<br><br>Bringing that back to funding conservative political policies, conservative politicians have been gutting funds for disaster relief, for food stamps and other assistance programs, and for tending to the needy, the hungry, and the sick. If I spend $1200 toward these causes through independent charities and spend just $100 to help elect politicians to end support for these causes, one could argue that the $100 does more to offset that $1200 contribution.<br><br>But the numbers don&apos;t matter, because spending any money on hunting the homeless for sport makes you a bad person.

  White Evangelicals will be kind, polite, and even empathetic…on a personal level. But when it comes to collective action, they will try to destroy your life and turn around professing total innocence when you confront them personally.<br><br>Morally duplicitous is the perfect term for them.
