Whenever Mother Gothel shows Rapunzel any affection, she's actually showing it to her hair.

In contrast, when Eugene does the same, he pushes her hair away from her face.

The scene where Rapunzel finally remembers who she was is still amazing to me, cuz she remembered her kingdom's sun symbol even as a baby, and has been unconsciously painting its shape for years of her life. All it took was seeing the flag AND the royal mural for her to realize she was the lost princess <3

One minor detail I love about this move is that during Mother Gothel’s song she mentions the Black Plague (1300s) and her dress fits with that time period, whereas Rapunzel wears a more 17-1800s-style dress. Which proves that she’d been using the flower for at least 500 years

I thought I was going crazy, cause I was like 99% sure you had watched Tangled before. Not complaining though, cause it's one of my favourite movies!

The curtain covering Rapunzels mural is made from the same material as Mother Gothels dress, symbolizing her keeping Rapunzel from the outside world.

Rapunzel is actually very strong. In the cartoon she ended up being able to revive people and also has an opposite version of the spell being destruction , death and chaos

Mother Gothel is my favorite Disney villain because of how realistic she is. She’s incredibly manipulative, creepy, and has an epic death scene.

Her dynamic with Rapunzel makes the movie extremely deep imo. She’s a great representation of an emotionally abusive parent.

So Google says Mother Gothel is 1000 years old! And typically in supernatural movies...The longer you cheat death the quicker you'll age without your power source.
