Lois Gibbs is an icon and such an example of how we should take ownership of our communities.

God Bless, you are an American hero, for defending your home. Sad that you had to defend yourself and your community from your own reckless irresponsible fellow countrymen. Great job Lois...

What is missing from this version of the story is how the residents group organised along democratic lines. There were a LOT of traumatised people in that group, and stakes could not have been higher, yet the group kept discipline, kept to the agreed rules, voted on everything and accepted the vote once called. That is a huge deal, even before you get to the drama of dealing with individual opponents.

The love canal was definitive but you introduced the future as a movement. A movement is recognized as protest not necessarily taking both sides of  an issues facts and perspective.

Lois Gibbs also reminds me of the terrible sexism in this country then and things are going that way again. Young women should listen! Also live chemically sensitive and cut your petrochemical pollution.

Chemical industry went out of country. Chemistry class is too hard to study.
