kakashi lost his father, his friend, killed his team mate, lost his sensei, his subordinate killed his clan, and his student turned evil. He still stayed loyal to the leaf. He really was the obiwan kenobi of naruto

I think Kushina deserves a spot here too: her village destroyed, her parents killed, bullied all her youth, forced to become a jinchuuriki that will cause her more troubles… she knows Minato will die too and her son would grow as an orphan and a jinchuuriki

Something that really fucks me up about Kakashi’s story is how everyone in his life basically killed themselves one way or another.
His dad committed suicide and Kakashi found his corpse.
Obito sacrificed himself to save Kakashi.
Rin committed suicide by MAKING KAKASHI DO IT.
Minato and Kushina sacrificed themselves to save the village.
Guy used a suicide attack on Madara (fortunately he survived because Naruto was ninja Jesus)
Then Obito sacrificed himself to save Kakashi again.

Bro is actually just cursed

Gaara's backstory taught me that the only thing that is worse than being all alone is being with people who make you feel like you're alone

Karin should've at least gotten an honorable mention because of the horrific shit her & her mother went through before meeting Orochimaru.

i wanted karin on this list man, that lady didn't really witness like death at a young stage, but she was forcefully bitten by shinobi countless times without her consent or approval, and like although it was never directly mentioned, bite marks can be seen on Karin’s inner-thigh and breasts, indicating that she had to strip naked for shinobi to bite her, and that too in her private areas, so its kinda almost implied that there could be sexual assault/child abuse at a young age, which i think is pretty traumatising and sad. she lost her mom to the same thing too, pretty tragic

Itachi also gets extra points for having witnessed the horrors of war at like 4 years old, spending the entire childhood he did have wrestling with the meaning of life and death in the shadow of that war, and losing his friends before becoming the youngest ever ANBU, which made him commit more unspeakable acts in the name of politics before he even got to the massacre. Itachi had it rough. He even contemplated suicide before he hit double digits in age. At least Kakashi was able to bounce back and save himself through his job as a teacher.

There is one person that is tragically missing from this list: Karin. I genuinely believe that her backstory puts her top 3 in this list at least. The constant abuse she endured throughout her entire life is heartbreaking
