For a farang like me who is married to a Thai woman your videos are pure gold, just as Ooi are. Hope you make many more videos with her and you in future. We learn a lot from these videos. Khup khun krap🙏🏻

I Have never been in Thailand, but I have been very fascinated by Thai culture, and your videos much have contributed for this feeling. Thanks for this fantastic video, and GrangJai , from what Ooi said is a very deep mutual understanding , built in a very respectfull, mutual relationship. Ooi is a very fantastic woman!! Al the best for you both.

I love your videos, not just because Oii is to sweet but because you are trying to get to the bottom of difficult Thai concepts. Your videos are a great mix of entertainment and learning. Great job, I look forward to every video.

the way you go in speaking thai & allowing us to hear this stuff coming direct from a very direct & honest thai woman, in her language, hits so much harder bro. amazing!

It takes politeness to a whole other level, but much more nuanced.

We learn something new about Ooi. The complex answers and comments near the end of the video. Now it’s Ooi the philosopher . Fascinating really .

Thank you Ooi for explaining GrengJia's meaning, you have a great patient heart. It is very rare to have a girlfriend like that with such goodness.
My hope is for a wonderful future for you both. 🙏🏼

As a fellow mature Farang (late 60s), I admire your patience and tolerance. Like you, I worked leading projects. Much of my work was across East Asia, and losing face is never an option. Saying "yes", when "no" would be the truthful answer, was always an issue. This made project and programme management treacherous, especially when you could not read the body language signals. You and Ooi are doing a great job, educating us. You are blessed to have someone like Ooi alongside you, and sharing so openly. Keep up the great, informative and insightful videos.

My direct experience with Grengjai in Thailand with regard to promised delivery times or some appointments is Gregjai can lead to lying, with the impossible delivery times or appointment being agreed on and then missed entirely. It’s not necessarily consideration of someone’s feelings, but sometimes it’s a harmful form of people pleasing to spare the Thai person potential conflict or even simple disagreement. You have to ask the Thai person not to be Grengjai, but instead give you a realistic delivery date or appointment time.

Outstanding video! Absolutely. Your style and format has me engaged from start to finish, every step of the way. Just wow. Thank you so much; these conversations mean a great deal to me as I navigate my way through the Thai culture. GrungJai incorporates an expanded level of consciousness, it's not merely a cultural idiosyncrasy. I love it.

Hey Peter. Thanks for going to all the trouble of making another video. Yes many things are lost in communication not just in translation. Culturally we view doing (or saying) things differently. I remember when I had a filipina girlfriend. If I did something that upset her (and I had no idea what it was) she would become 'tamp.' She wouldn't speak to me for a day or two. It sounds weird and immature (which I personally think it is) but that is how women in the Philippines respond if they are upset about something. It even has a name (tampo) and is an accepted behavior in Filipino culture.
I've been back now for nearly four weeks now and I feel like going back to Thailand already! Thanks for sharing and all the best!
