Of all the wonderful places that Bourdain visited around the world it was plainly obvious that Vietnam was the place that meant the most to him. If heaven has a Vietnam I hope Bourdain is sitting on a plastic stool, slurping noodles and sipping a cold beer.

I went to Vietnam a few years ago and absolutely fell in love. From the busy streets to the little plastic chairs and tables, to the beautiful views, but most importantly the people. I remember walking around a street one day and a group of youngsters gestured me to come and have a drink, I walked over, sat down and drank the guys beer. This led to hilarious laughter after which I bought a round for all the guys. We went for Karaoke afterwards en then for late night spicy food. It was such an amazing evening, and I never saw them again after that night. I had many of those types of nights. The Ha Giang pass was my favourite place, Bun Cha became my favourite food. I absolutely want to live in Vietnam one day soon.

In case anyone else was wondering (since it wasn't clear from the story he told in the episode), Nguyen Qui Duc's father was in fact alive and was released in 1984.

Rest in Peace Anthony Bourdain. Because of him, the first time I went to Vietnam I took a taxi from the airport straight to the pho restaurant on Bat Dan that he visited. I didn’t even have a hotel yet, I just sat there drinking a beer and waiting for the best noodles in Hanoi.

I wish Linh got invited and got to go to Anthony's funeral. Imagine Linh hearing the news about his death😢 must've been gut wrenching.

I lived in Vietnam for 11 years and was a hue regular... this is seriously the only video I've seen that truly explains what I love about Vietnam

The food, the people of Vietnam, Bourdain serves us a hint of a wonderful culture. And to hear someone recite Robert Frost from the other side of the world makes me wonder how we get stuck in our bubble.
