Could rising waters submerge the state of Florida?

  I've lived in Palm Beach county for 53 yrs. I've watched the same storm drains on Flager drive since I was 10. They used to overflow a bit around the grates a high tide, now they flood the street with 7" of water twice a day at high tides.

  I believe you It’s the ground sinking from the limestone devolving like what causes sinkholes

  I really don't want Florida to flood! I loved visiting my relatives in Pensacola. It's such a beautiful state!

  That's what happens when you build your city on land that is only about 18 inches above high tide and then drain the swamp that feeds an aquafer beneath your feet. Normal sea rise is about 9 inches a century. Miami was founded in 1896, 122 years ago and that means over a foot of sea rise is due to the natural increase. Add in another 6 inches of loss due to the land sinking and its not surprising that some of your land is below sea level now.

  Yes it has been happening for not only decades but also centuries as well. However the rate of increase in rise is exponential.

  the everglades used to help contain the ocean; and all the overbuilding of dwellings right up to the water what did they expect?

  been going to the same beaches for 60 years, they're still 3 miles from here!
