I've been working with grip gear for years, knew the difference between baby pins and junior pins, baby stands and junior stands, and literally never put together that they're called that bc of the pin size. love your channel dude

Thanks for the time and effort explaining the differences between these stands. I’m a Gaffer in a small market, so my exposure to equipment is limited to what’s on hand, or what can be rented locally. I’ve taken to manufacturing some equipment, or modifying certain stands such as the Fashpoint 12’ Combo 2.5” Gobo stand.

One of the things I’d like to see more of is safety videos when using stands. The aforementioned Flashpoints have a habit of slipping when shaken(They need the knob’s threading drilled out and replaced with a brass insert). Granted flashpoint is a cheap brand, but one rule I have is to shake any stand that is flying lamps or modifiers overhead. If anything loosens up or slips, it ain’t safe to be in the air. I don’t believe this is nearly as big of an issue with trusted manufacturers, but with the influx of cheaper alternatives, the smaller production markets are awash in G&E equipment that can be dangerous on set.

Thank you for shedding light on these stands! I may have used a crank stand once in college, but haven't really encountered overheads or cranks since.
