  I remember years ago when someone was talking about how women in media are treated when they have to go through traumatic events to evolve and they said "The fact that it's used so much it's just accepted as something that will inevitably happen to a female character is horrible."

  The Hal stuff was decanonized years ago but I find it so weird that no one batted an eye about how the writer CLEARLY used Hal as a self insert…<br>Then years later the writer was arrested.

  Dr. Light is truly a microcosm of how much sexual assault against female characters is used, not only are some of Sue&apos;s panels weirdly sexualized as she does the tits and ass pose but Dr. Light&apos;s entire focus is about hurting another character, a male character, and he goes on a rant directly stating it. It was never about a sadly very common tragedy that some people face but about a female character getting hurt in one of the worst ways imaginable for the sake of a male character&apos;s pain.

  Jason Todd was also left completely vulnerable—sexually abused and tortured by the damn Joker—in the &quot;Three Jokers&quot; comic. The only thing I feel when looking at this is unease and nausea, because he is being fucking tortured by the man he despises more than anyone else—a man who terrifies him. People who don&apos;t see the sexual assault in this are crazy; he’s naked for no reason other than to give you the creeps and show just how truly insane the Joker is.<br><br>I think the reason he’s naked is that it’s part of the &quot;process&quot; of turning someone into the Joker, as seen earlier in the comic. But it’s still sexual assault, and people react strangely to this scene (though I’d argue the scene is already bizarre on its own). The worst part is that there are people who use those pages to harp on about how attractive Jason is.<br><br>Jason gets groomed by various female characters, yet people only blame the writing for being misogynistic—I mean, sure, it could be misogyny, but no one ever blames anything other than the male characters themselves when it’s a female character being groomed by them. Male sexual assault will never be taken seriously in most fandom spaces, and it makes me so sick. It makes me sad.
