  My daughter, has her own girl math. <br><br>She recently turned 16, got a job without us encouraging her to, and about 2 weeks after starting to work there, she asked me to open up a Roth IRA for her, and she puts about 35% of her paycheck into it. And then I match the difference plus a little more for her.

  My adult woman math. Paid off my university loan in 6 years, home mortgage, at 41, in 11 years with 5% interest rate. Paid own wedding. Paid new vehicle in full, in cash. No debt. Saving for retirement.

  Cash seems to be having the opposite effect now; the old conventional wisdom that said to buy things with cash so you will feel the pain of spending seems to be turned on its head with younger folks. &nbsp;Since we live our lives digitally and the money is out of the system people see cash as &quot;free&quot;, like it&apos;s already spent.
