  Years ago, I told both my older sisters that our mom wasn&apos;t doing well and they needed to come see her more before it was too late and they regretted it (they lived 45 minutes away). <br>They didnt listen - one (the family drunk) said, &quot;moms not dying and she isnt going to die!&quot;<br>&quot;&quot;Everyone dies&quot; I replied, &quot;and you&apos;ll regret not visiting when you had the chance&quot;.<br>A few months later, mom went into the hospital and didn&apos;t come out.<br> Of course, I was somehow to blame (according to the drunk) while my other sister just wept. They indeed regretted. <br>Oh, and I got the house along with 1/3 of the family heirlooms (there was no money) &quot;because I was there&quot; for 7 years and they...weren&apos;t. I never asked or expected the house, but I respected moms wishes.

  This is more a realistic ending than the usual kidnapping, stabbing, car accident etc. &nbsp;The MIL is the best. &nbsp;She knew her children didn&apos;t GAF about her and that her son was cheating, so she did the right thing.

  This literally happened in my family. I remember my mom calling my dad over and over to tell him about his mom. He never answered and was at a party with his mistress… They divorced too without the money part….
