But the rest and relaxation don't last long. A cowardly villain has been polluting the beautiful landscape, and to make matters worse, he looks exactly like Mario! With his mustache bristling with anger, Mario sets out to clean up the island...and his name. But no Mario adventure would be complete without a surprising innovation, and in Super Mario Sunshine, it's that curious water-filled pump strapped to the plumber's broad back. On the other hand, this water-powered device is Mario's means of washing away the disastrous mud puddle created by the fake Mario, and its powerful spray is accompanied by some of the most sophisticated water effects ever seen. But the backpack can also be used to launch himself through the island's crystal-clear skies, help Mario perform a somersault while hanging from ropes, launch our blue monkey pal across ponds from a lily pad platform... and perform a multitude of secret functions yet to be revealed, during Mario's quest to restore the power of Shine to the island.
