The 2000s was the golden decade for safeties.  Ed Reed, Troy Polamalu, Brian Dawkins, Sean Taylor, Bob Sanders, Rodney Harrison, John Lynch, Roy Williams, Lawyer Milloy, and the last few years of Rod Woodson's career.

To be able to see Ed and Troy in the same game, 2 times, sometimes 3 times a yr was action packed

They both had different roles. Ed had more picks and pick 6's, whereas, Troy had more tackles, sacks and forced fumbles. Different roles, but highly effective.

I'll never forget I was watching a game with my dad and Troy Polamalu was doing Troy Polamalu things, having himself a game, he was all over the field... and I had to ask him "hey what position is that guy even playing?" And he sighed and went "teeeechnically he's a safety? But he kind of just does whatever he wants."

Wish they talked about how smart these guys were defensively and not always on their physical abilities.  They studied just as hard as the best offensive gurus. They’re just that brilliant

Us Raven's fans and Steeler's fans don't agree on a lot. We can agree in one thing though. We were truly blessed by the football gods to be able to watch Ed and Troy in the same division in the same era. Ed is my favorite all time Ravens. Troy was the only Steeler I never could hate. Lol. He was insanely disruptive but he went about his businesses quietly and respectfully.

As a ravens fan I LOVE Troy man. He doesn’t have to pep himself up like everyone else. He is just already a monster. Extremely soft spoken and humble. He let his football do the talking

One of my favorite mic'd moments is Reed hitting that block and Ray Lewis high pitched shouting on the sideline "OH MY GOODNESS" 🤣🤣🤣

Im pretty sure all Bill's kids hate Ed. Bill always speaks about Ed like he wished he was his father. Lol
