Thanks to everyone for the tremendous response to this video. Here are a few corrections from viewers:

1. The C64U keyboard design by Jim Drew is actually more similar to a "BlingBoard" not a "MechBoard."
2. The rear USB-A ports support storage devices, external keyboards and now mice with a firmware update. USB game controllers remain unsupported.
3. See the description for more info on alternative Kernal ROMs.
4. ⚠️One comment said that Sega Genesis/Mega Drive controllers work with the C64. DO NOT use them. They can damage your Commodore!⚠️

I wasn't going to be alive for another 10 years when the original Commodore 64 first came out, and I always wanted to have one, but seeing how rough the used market was, I gave up on that idea. With the Commodore 64 ultimate, I feel like I've been given a second chance to have this experience, I always wanted to learn to code with one, and I do want to actually make games for this thing. Mine arrived in the mail today and I'm looking forward to using it!

Most of the 20,000 buyers of the Ultimate probably have a collection of original Commodore computers, I know I do but I love this kind of thing.

Very nice review! I got my BASIC Beige C64U a week before Christmas with a Founders Edition model hopefully soon on it's way and I can vouch for everything you say here. If you're serious about the classic Commodore 64 experience but don't want to tinker with aging hardware (and even if you do want to connect an original 1541 disk drive, Datasette or Cartridges) this is the way to go, and you get some modern conveniences (HDMI output, USB-sticks and the internal MicroSD-card for your software and a WiFi or EtherNet connection for access to Commoserve or BBS-es) as a bonus.

"The issue was later confirmed by Commodore" - what a statement!

I was never a Commodore kid, I had a BBC Micro as a kid and spent a lot of time playing on ZX Spectrums around various friends houses. I do want one of the new C64s though, I've enjoyed Perifractic's youtube content for years and it really feels like this is the first truly solid retro company with a real claim to the legacy of the company. They deserve the full support of all the retro community.

I just got the message that my Starlight edition is on its way. I’ve been waiting for over 30 years get my hands on the Commodore again. I plan to learn Basic programming so I can write my own programs. I’m all for the return to 80’s and 90’s, I can’t wait to see what this new system can do. 😊

My Starlight Edition keyboard is solid as a rock. So flex at all. Love the overview!

Oh, I have the Koala Pad and Painter clear back from new, and I tested it on my 128 64 a few months ago, and it still works!
