Both Sherlock Holmes are criminally underrated.

This series definitely needs a third movie. These movies were so damn good. I'll never forget being in the theater opening night and literally hearing all of the oxygen sucked out of the room when Moriarty started his inner monologue during the last fight. That, "Come now, you think you're the only one that can play this game?" still gives me goosebumps to this day because of it.

One of the rare sequels that’s probably better than the original!

Watson is called "John H. Watson" in the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle stories, except for one brief scene in "The Man with the Twisted Lip" when his wife calls him James. This puzzled scholars for years until Dorothy L. Sayers suggested that the H stood for "Hamish," the Scottish equivalent of "James." In the film, Watson's middle name is Hamish.

Why do some reactors keep expecting Irene Adler to be alive? And nothing in this movie even remotely suggested Simza as a new love interest. He does good disguises so he should be able to cover his black eye?

Sherlock‘s brother is the guy who keeps all the improprieties that government officials do under wraps. In other words he keeps all of the dirty secrets secret whether there be bribes affairs or anything else that the public should not know about he keeps it secret. It makes things disappear.

Professor Moriarty was mainly based on the real-life master criminal Adam Worth, who formed a network in Europe that was responsible for many robberies and managed to avoid being arrested for years because the police couldn't prove anything. One inspector gave him his nickname of "the Napoleon of Crime", which Sir Arthur Conan Doyle also used for Moriarty. The professorial side of him and the specifics of his impressive accomplishments in that field were inspired by several other academic contemporaries like George Boole and Simon Newcomb, though they (presumably) never operated as criminal masterminds.

I always like to imagine that Mary and Watson are like, halfway to their honeymoon destination when they find Sherlock stuffed in next to their luggage and he does wind up joining them.

30:17 Moriarty threatened Sherlock with MAD, but Sherlock replied that he would gladly accept his own demise if Moriarty's is guaranteed.
