  I also think that people used to spend less money on useless junk and didn’t have the highest of standards we have now due to social media exposure

  We started investing later in life, hubby was in the Army and we were poor, he did not retire, too many wars, and we had had enough. We became civilians, started working, struggled for years, then started making good money. We blew a lot of it the first few years of making that money, then caught ourselves, got out of debt, and now we send in 3k a month to our investment guy. As soon as I pay off the 2 cars, then it will be double that. We plan on retiring with 800k to 1 million, and that will be enough, we will have no debt. Plus we are self employed, so we can work part time if we want to.

  My wife is a stay at home mom, and I have four streams of income to make being a “single income household” work for our family. Not easy, but it can be possible. All about what you value and prioritize

  Working through college and graduating totally debt free is the hack. Even if college is paid for, get a job! This will literally solve all these problems, if you so desire.

  Regarding #1: I know an electrician who makes north of $150K, only one year in trade school. No loans.

  We raised 8 kids! &nbsp;In my husbands pay as an rn. Was it hard. Yes. Was it worth it yes! &nbsp;And to have some income I always had a day care playmate for my youngest. &nbsp;It was perfect. I loved being a mom. And now I’m a great grandma just wishing they were all living closer!
