I was a contractor on a small FOB in Ghazni Province 2012-13. We had a local bread maker on our FOB. One day I went with an interpreter to get some fresh bread. Through the interpreter I talked with the bread maker. I told him the mountains to the west were incredible; that I'd love to go out there and walk around. He told me not go out there. Giants lived in those mountains.

This is literally one of my favorite channels on YouTube! I’m a vet from 1986-2011. Strange shit does happen for sure.

I used to play video games with a British guy who was in Afghanistan cirka 2008, i never asked him too many questions about his military service because i didn't want to be that civilian who asks the dumbest things. He did show me a couple of photos of him in the country, and told me a couple of things that weren't combat related. Now this guy had no time for cryptids or aliens or any stuff like that, he'd just scoff and kinda mock anyone the few times flying saucers or the Chupacabra etc etc were brought up in conversation. But in 2018-2019 i asked him about the Kandahar giant and he went quiet for a sec and said "I don't know, Afghanistan is a weird place", and that was it. No crude jokes or anything like that, which honestly took me by surprise.

A friend of mine has a cousin who was a SEAL and was in Afghanistan. He talked about a giant like the first story. A man about 8-9 feet tall wearing fur clothes on the outskirts of a village. They just spotted him, no combat.

I was in Afghanistan in 2009-10. The story of the Kandahar giant who killed those soldiers, was common knowledge in country at that time. We heard the story word of mouth from other units. Afghanistan is definitely a crazy place, for many reasons

I’m an Afghan vet. No supernatural stories, but after I got back I came upon the poem by Rudyard Kipling, The ballad of East and West. This is from the British adventures in Afghanistan in the 1890s. It hasn’t changed.

I want to take a moment to appreciate the fact that Luke Lamana is the best host / voice actor that we have on YouTube. We are lucky to have him.

In 2009, my team had to land at our secondary LZ. When landing at the primary, our pilot saw what he believed fo be a cow. But as the bird started to touch down, the cow stood up. We always believed it was a bear, but in the back of my mind, it always felt off. There are definitely bears in Afghanistan, but the idea that a bear would literally stand his ground against a chinook always seemed off to me.

I lost one of my closest friends in 2024 . This was few days after he bacame a Lieutenant. He was a combat medic in the Indian army and was posted somwhere in Kashmir . Late that year the place was bombarded by artillery guns from the Pakistani side ( which is a very common thing there ). While he was busy attending to a wounded soldier one of the shells fell right next to him and a big shrapnel went right through his chest . The shelling stopped some time later but it was already too late . The last story reminded me of him , the length and breadth the servicemen go to serve their country . May he find peace in his next life.
