When I heard the line, I always got the impression that Aragorn was saying that it could not be wielded without being corrupted, not that other were incapable of wielding it.

Missed opportunity to talk about Sam, who also used the ring, talking about his ring fantasy of turning middle earth into one big garden

It's like saying "Actually people can eat plutonium 🤓☝️" Sure you can, it would just be a monumentally stupid thing to do

I feel like movie Aragorn wasn't mistaken, instead, given the previous context from Gandalf in the movie, it was implied that no one could wield it because they would be corrupted.

Thank you. I've always told people that Aragorn meant that noone there could wield it without being corrupted by it. Anyone who disagrees hasn't read the books. Heck, even the movies make this point by having the likes of Frodo put it on.

"That we should wish to cast him down and have no one in his place is not a thought that occurs to his mind. That we should try to destroy the ring itself has not yet entered into his darkest dream"<br><br>This quote is such a massive part of the whole ring saga and sauron that not many seem to understand. This is why the plan worked.

In my honest opinion: The only right thing Amazon could've done to attribute something to the world of Tolkien, is fooling Sauron by make him order a fake ring on their website and wait ages for it to be delivered at the wrong address.

Dark Lord Sam forcing Gandalf to stage eternal fireworks displays without sleep and sending his fell messengers throughout Middle earth to impose a cruel levy on all pie. One trembles at the thought.

It is very obvious Aragorn just meant that no one can use it without being corrupted by it. Like REALLY obvious.

Even Isildur realized at last, though he did Wield it, could not Master it. On his way to Imladris to be rid of it, the Ring itself sealed his fate.<br><br>It is vital that you continue to stress the differences between Tolkien canon (even though it too evolved over time) and the theatrical interpretations. While I do enjoy the movies and appreciate Jackson's work, the books are the tale.
