The 1888 Gettysburg reunion was a true result of the healing of our country. No more north or south, we are all Americans bound by the events in the past later honored as the glory of memories. If I could travel back in time I would have greatly wished to be at this reunion, even just to view the events and the veterans.

Yes, i hear the differences in his pronunciation, but have no trouble understanding him.. i applaud his getting up there and addressing the group. The content was very informative and the speaker knowledgeable.

I can only imagine how difficult it was to function in the mid 19th century without limbs, like Sickles. Day to day life must have been a challenge.

The reference to the meeting being a "camp meeting" is a reference to revivals that were held in camps over a period of many days. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camp_meeting

I still don't care what anyone thinks, if i'd been a Gettysburg veteran at that reunion..I'd still have hurled Dan Sickles off a high balcony with a nice long drop and cheered as he went!
