It is made more for easy cleaning than appearance.

As a veterinarian, Dogs and Cats are, most definitely, NOT the same!

There are many medications that dogs are fine using, that cats can't. Others that cats need to use much lower doses of.

Subcutaneous injections in cats have to be in the skin of their legs, because if, God forbid, it makes a sarcoma, you need to have a margin to remove beyond the tumor, and the legs, tail or arms are the only places it can be done without removing cavity walls and organs (with the leg being the only among those with skin loose enough far enough to properly give the injection).

Cats hide much more their symptoms, so you need a more alert eye to see signs and bring them to the vet.

Cats tend to be a lot more scared in clinics, which sometimes makes even professionals perform procedures stressfully for the cat (when it's not a bad profissional who even abuses the cat to vent their frustration, which is obviouslyeven worse).

And cats are generally less understood by the general public than dogs. Plenty of people think a cat swinging its tail is happy, when in fact it's a sign of stress and more or less a fight or flight response.

So really, no, they're not the same.

14:35 - hardwood floors require sweeping and maintaining. It can soak up stains, so you need to clean up stains promptly. Also its wood- so ideally you'd want to wax it to keep it in good condition. a good hardwood floor increases the value of the house MASSIVELY.
Linoleum, conversely, is super cheap, and you can mop it. No maintenance required. Sacrifice your firstborn on the altar of convenience. consume. be lazy.

Linoleum, when you couldn't be bothered to keep your wooden floor clean and wanted to mop all your problems away, without the worry of damaging said wood. That, and everyone was getting into that "convenience tech" phase of the 50's and 60's
