“An eternal punishment for a finite crime can only be a miscarriage of justice. And if I would feel sorry for someone burning alive forever, then how could a god of love not feel sorry for them. I can't be more compassionate than god, can i?”

I remember smelling something very fishy was going on, when I was 12 years old, back in 1980. My 12 year old mind realized the old testament and new testament didn't match up at all. My Sunday school teacher at a small country church in Australia, couldn't answer any of the big questions I started to ask. I came home from church and asked my mother if it was OK if I stopped going to church, because it felt like a waste of time. Surprisingly, she gave me her blessing and said it was OK to stay at home on Sunday mornings. This was the moment I began to wake up. The waking up process is a gradual thing, from my experience. It's the combined effect of many different experiences, over many years, that chips away the granite around your Heart & mind, until all the walls are gone. In 2001 at the age of 33, I did literally wake up and remember who I truly am. God showed me the truth without having to read any "stories" from a book, that needs to be retired once and for all. I look forward to the New New Testament to begin and have truth be told, once and for all. It feels like that day is getting very close now for planet Earth. Peace 🌻💜

Coincidently I’ve been in Wes Huff’s comments section today. And I have been threatened with eternal suffering as a result of pointing out that a supreme loving god would not threaten people who do not obey with hell.
I’ve never been able to square that with an ever loving god.

To be totally honest, these passages are more scary than religious. Thank for your brave work, Paul, I have huge respect.

EVEN AS A CHILD, I COULD CONCEIVE THAT A LOVING GOD WOULD NOT FRY YOU LIKE BACON, SIZZLING AWAY FOR ETERNITY. THAT IS NOT LOVE.

The jews that returned from babylonian exile are the ones that wrote the old testament...whilst in exile they translated the babylonian/akkadian/Sumerian tablets and texts into their version of the past

Bravo! a well reasoned rebuttal of the "gospel" of fear. Thank you, Paul.

The child stands up in Sunday school and says "....the god who tells us to forgive our enemies will punish his enemies forever???"
