Along with the Eagles and Chicago, the Doobies are a band that proudly represents the best America roc and roll offers! Long live the Doobies, rock icons.

I have NEVER heard the term "yacht rock" before about 2018. Not once.

I remember when I was a kid The Doobies came on my favorite show "What's Happening" with Raj, Rerun & Dwayne. I had never heard of them prior to, but they instantly became recognizable from that point & became one of my fav groups. That definitely stood out after being on that show.

The Doobie Brothers & The Allman Brothers were great 70’s staples of classic Rock & Roll.

I love both iterations of the band! Still listen to them all these years later.

The mid-'70s lineup changes in The Doobie Brothers occurred primarily because Steely Dan decided to stop touring after ending their "Pretzel Logic" album tour in July 1974. Band members other than Walter Becker and Donald Fagen didn't share in the songwriting royalties and depended on touring to get paid. That's why guitarist Skunk Baxter left for The Doobies in late1974 and was able to recruit Steely Dan backing vocalist Michael McDonald to fill in for the ailing Tom Johnston in 1975. But McDonald didn't force his music on his new band, that was done by their producer, Ted Templeman, once he heard Michael's original songs, "Takin' It to the Streets" and "It Keeps you Runnin'." He told the band they needed to record the songs for their next album, and the results were so good both songs were released as singles.

I doubt any of the Doobies turned down a single dollar playing the music written by Micheal Macdonald. They might have walked away eventually but after they cashed in on it long enough.

I was hooked, after hearing What a fool believes on the radio. I went out and bought the album. That was the first album of theirs that I bought.

Black Water is my all-time favorite Doobie Brothers song. Soulful and haunting

I treasure the differences of the Tom Johnston and Michael McDonald eras of the band. It gave them a unique edge and made their music multi faceted.
