  I have been able to successfully etch window glass panes with my Creality Falcon 22W diode laser, running at the half-power setting. &nbsp;Coat the glass with water-soluble black tempera paint until it is completely opaque. &nbsp;It might take more than one coat. &nbsp;When it is completely dry, it can be etched. &nbsp;The paint absorbs the light from the laser and the resultant heat ablates the glass below it with a shallow etch. &nbsp;If you can keep the glass in register, recoating and re-etching can give a deeper etch. &nbsp;I haven&apos;t tried it yet, but it might work on clear acrylic too. &nbsp;I have read of the same technique being used to etch or colorize metal that is responsive to heating.<br><br>This technique is only useful for etching. &nbsp;It can&apos;t be used for cutting.

  Best breakdown I’ve seen. Super helpful. Thank you. <br>I bought a co2 after a lot of research and I like it. But… now the mopa and some other high wattage fiber seem to fill a lot of gaps that we’re having and do a lot of what I use my co2 for. <br><br>Also so many haters. There is no one single overall best laser for everyone. But he’s just laid out all out for you to decide.

  I love my Atomstack x70 pro. Nice blend of huge work area and not super expensive. I mostly do wood, so it works fine, and it&apos;s super portable.

  I went with the Longer Ray 5 10 watt diode for $300, then spent $150 on the y and x axis extension to get a work area of 16.5&quot;x36&quot;, it&apos;s been pretty impressive for a diode laser with a solid work area and costed less than these small enclosed lasers. &nbsp;I then went with OmTech k40+ to get into the Co2 aspect of lasering. &nbsp; While it cuts and etches great, it has a small work area, so next thing will be a bigger work area C02 for myself.

  It is just AMAZING the amount of information you get out there, we can see you know your stuff, I would like to ask you 1 question, I am looking to the perfect machine to engrave, on stainless steel (knives), wood, glass, plexiglass, tumblers, plastic...all possible materials, and the 3 different versions of the machines, the budget one, the middle of the road, and the heavy duty or commercial one, I want to get into engraving, and if I have a market around me, I might get serious about it!... Thank you!
