  I sometimes miss the exhausted confidence I had for the first few months after my partner died. That girl gave no shits. She was always sleeping and never eating and deeply unwell in a dozen different ways but nothing could phase her. The Worst Thing in the World already happened, nothing else was scary. Not embarrassment, not other people, not failure, nothing. I was falling apart but also I was unstoppable. Grief is weird. Now almost three years later I just have this sad understanding that the Worst Things in the World can and do happen. I started caring again, I started fearing again.
