If players today had to face Bird, there would be a lot of them talking to their therapists about him and asking coach for "load management" breaks when Boston appeared on the schedule.

Bird would FEAST today, no hand checking , wide open lanes, soft players; he would wear people out

The people in this video aren’t old enough to know that Larry Bird and even Magic Johnson tried to emulate passes and moves they had seen Pete Maravich perform like a magician in the 1970s. When Maravich would “ghost pass” during a fast break, by extending his arms as if he were passing it to his right, but the basketball would just be floating there in between his arms, the whole breaking defense would follow this fake pass to the right and Pete would snatch the seemingly antigravity basketball and whip it behind his back to a now open breaking teammate on the left. Not even Bird or Magic could pull that one. Or, when Pete would palm the ball and throw it the length of the floor with a backspin so that it landed right in front of the basket and bounced straight up into the hands of à breaking teammate. It’s too bad they didn’t keep track of assists back then because Pete would get bored and just start making crazy passes. It was amazing that his Jazz teammates could even handle them. (YouTube “The Night of Pistol Pete” will trip you out. No 3-pt line. Against the Knicks loaded with HOFers. AND the refs fouled him out on two questionable charging calls with 5 min left. I think he still scored 72. Watch it. No walking. No NIKE. No bullshit.)

If you ever had the chance to watch Coop, he played defense against great shooters like glue!!  I could never get how close and tough he’d play defense without playing dirty.  What great memories!!

Bird would shoot over towns and if he tried to jump and block it, bird would fake and go around him. No one today would stop him. The league is too weak today

Shows how racist the NBA is, I'm white and played basketball,  color has nothing to do with how good you are!
