Recently, I've been putting one point in living off the land and one point in better barter. Then gathering cotton, golden rod and chrysanthemum to sell. You get a decent amount of xp and dukes.

I wonder how common it is for players to build their own bases. I have NEVER taken a POI house and turned it into a true base in all my hours and i have no clue why. I'm going to give it a try.
