Watching these clips with the calm serene music fells like living in your nostalgia. But your older now, so you don’t wish for those memories to be your current life, instead you now understand they are in the past and that is how you appreciate them.

I started my career in 1974 in New York looking at this and looking at the freight cars with the railroad names I remember coming into the yard where I worked brings back a lot of memories.

Wow, I can' not even tell you how much emotion the scene in Reno brought up for me. I went to high school in Reno, graduated in 1987, and would train watch all the time. My entire family is gone now, and I miss my dad, mom and brothers. Just watching these amazing images from the past are priceless. Thank you for sharing this video.

Wow! Very nostalgic footage. The music was the perfect touch too. Being born in the late 80s, trains didn't become a thing for me until the 90s, and by then the ruggedness of the railroads were already transitioning into what we have today. Something about the brute force of man, machines, and the vast undeveloped land they traveled through. What a era to witness and to see what it has become today.

I think its times like watching this video I best remember why I go railfanning and exploring history, the thought that what is the norm today will be extinct in my lifetime.

Mood music to go along with fond memories of that which is no more.
