  I was fucking stoked that Espera was finally on. I got out in 2007 and that’s around when Gen Kill came out. It made me laugh so hard because it was like being in a platoon again. I think it did a good job capturing what our generation of Marines were like. &nbsp;Still one of my favorites. <br><br>I wasn’t a Recon guy, just a Sgt squad leader in 1st FAST 7th Platoon. We were forward deployed in response to the Cole bombing and working in Yemen and other anti terrorism security missions in 01, and that’s when the Towers went down. Was a life changing time, as you’re well aware. <br><br>I gotta say, the series was and still serves as place for me to take a pause and remember. It’s a way for me to remember the bros in my platoon because I think there’s one of each in every platoon of Marines. <br><br>It’s not the drama, but more the dialogue and relationships that I get a kick out of. &nbsp;The actors did a good job playing Marines. <br><br>In my Platoon there was a Sgt Hood (would have been Colbert) and me, Sgt Guitierez (definitely Espera) and we had a very similar dynamic. &nbsp;<br><br>It was fun to hear the real Marine talk and to see you two cut it up. I’m thankful you’re both well and doing good things. Semper Fi from one Marine to another.

  I remember sneaking into a weapons factory in the middle of nowhere with Tony while he was embedded with the company. Earlier that day, we had spent time with an agency-made meplat uniformer that intentionally notched the bullet tip, creating an imperfection that would throw the round slightly right of center mass.<br><br>Oh, Tony. So facetious.<br><br>The goat’s name was Ninurta, named after the Mesopotamian deity. Great talk, gents. It brought back a lot of memories.
