Ayşe Arman | Haldun Dormen ve Betül Mardin'in Gelini, Usta Gazeteci Ayşe Arman Kimdir?

Ayşe Arman is a Turkish journalist and columnist. Born on December 9, 1969, in Adana, she has three siblings. Her mother, Veronica, is German and a successful ballerina, and her father, Mehmet Kutman Arman, is Turkish. Her father, Mehmet Kutman Arman, married Veronica Passler, a German neighbor, in Bern, Switzerland, where he went for his university education. After their marriage, the couple settled in Adana and had three children. In her column in Hürriyet, Arman wrote about her mother: "My mother, Veronica Arman, was born in 1942. For 30 years, she has been teaching dance at her own school, the Adana Yüzevler Ballet Center. 'Do what you are passionate about, and don't even hold the hand of a man you aren't passionate about!' I learned this from my mother. Ballet has been my mother's passion for as long as I can remember. She has had a ballet school for 30 years. There are very few people living in Adana who are interested in dance and haven't passed through Mami's school." My mother was self-sufficient. She always was. Yes, she was my father's wife, the mother of three children, but she was always like an 'island' that could exist on its own, act independently. She didn't necessarily need friends. But she didn't shine when she was with others. She shone on her own. She was always different in some way. For example, she would take her book and go to the park. Now I think about it, a woman reading a book in front of a fountain in a public park in Adana 40 years ago. She never complained about being alone, neither at home nor at the summer house. She was always busy with something, with classical music playing in the background. She still is. She always supported me. Even my silly dreams. Like being able to travel on my own. At 18, I traveled around Europe with a backpack. My father initially objected. But my mother always said, "Let it happen!" She was always creative. She had interesting ideas. She would throw us unusual birthday parties when we were children, she would sew clothes. Her things were always extraordinary. But this was normal for her. And she was incredibly supportive. After graduating from Tarsus American High School, he continued his education at Istanbul University's School of Journalism and Broadcasting, but left his studies unfinished. On his website, which bears his name, he described himself with these words: "I was born in Adana on December 9, 1969. I find my birth year significant; I probably don't need to explain why. It seems to me that my mind started working after 35. Before, I was like a bird, flying. Now my project covers are open, especially when I'm walking in the mornings; they open even more, and a lot of absurd ideas come to me. I used to be afraid to put them into practice, but now I'm also full of courage... May God protect you!" My father is from Adana, my mother is German. Like almost all the girls in this country, I have a father issue that I couldn't resolve, that I couldn't overcome. I always wanted to please him, to be approved by him, but I couldn't. It remains a regret in my heart. And he's no longer alive. He wanted me to open "Arman Pharmacy." I preferred to be a journalist who did things my own way. But I always loved him very, very much. My father, Mehmet Kutman Arman, graduated from the Austrian High School. While in Bern, Switzerland for university, he met his German neighbor, Veronika Passler. Veronika is a ballerina. And I am the second sparkle in their eyes! The first is my older sister, Suna Apa. The last is my brother, Nevzat Arman. My sister is a separate matter for me. She is so beautiful that throughout my life I've been told, "You're good, you're nice, but your sister is so beautiful!" I heard the comment, and it made me feel insecure. But it doesn't do me any good, my sister is still prettier than me! One of my role models is my mother. She's disciplined, hardworking, and creative. She went to Adana and opened a ballet school, and it's been going on for 30 years. Almost everyone in Adana became her student. I'm a child who was expected to be a boy after a girl. My future name was determined to be Kaya. So my fate was to be a "tomboy"! I'm from the generation that grew up playing in the streets. I'm good at climbing trees, roller skating, diving, and running. I completed my middle and high school education at Tarsus American High School, where I learned to say "I don't know" and to question everything. Then, off to Istanbul. Journalism was on my mind... the only profession where I could satisfy my endless curiosity. I enrolled in the Radio and Television Department of the Communication Faculty at Istanbul University. But I didn't have the opportunity to finish because I started working at Nokta magazine at the age of 18. #ayşearman #haldundormen #betülmardin
