  Okay, So Hyang fans, I went into this completely blind, and now I have questions 😂<br><br>That soft, feathery voice at the beginning had me convinced she was hiding something, and apparently she was hiding an absolute WEAPON.<br><br>I still know basically nothing about her—her background, her training, any of it.<br><br>So is there a So Hyang rabbit hole?<br><br>And more importantly: what performance do I watch next?

  At 70yrs old, Sohyang is the most amazing singer/person I&apos;ve ever come across, I highly recommend going down that rabbit hole. My favorite and the most incredible performance I&apos;ve ever seen is Everyone

  I live in the US. In May 2025, when I stumbled upon Sohyang’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water” performance on the “Immortal Songs 2” show from May 2015 (yes, this one), I was utterly floored! That moment in May 2025 opened up a world I didn’t know I was missing. She’s more than a great singer - she’s a vessel of comfort and light. Every discovery since then has only deepened my admiration for her!

  Sohyang is known as the Queen of Vocals, Live Performances, and Mixed Voice. She is also regarded as one of the greatest divas of all time, alongside Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. Her passion and dedication to music are immense. Among the songs she has performed, I recommend Whitney Houston&apos;s &quot;I Have Nothing&quot; first. You can discover why she is considered the greatest diva through her creativity, diverse vocal timbres, incredible vocal range and dynamics, breath control, emotional expression, and delivery. There are even quite a few live performance videos of her singing this song while sitting on the stairs. This is just the beginning. I hope you join her on her musical journey and be blessed.

  Sohyang is one of the most versatile singers around. She is not just renowned for her incredible belting, to illustrate you might look at her cover of the jazz classic &apos;Misty&apos; or her stripped back version of Amazing Grace.

  In Korea, shows like this are different. &nbsp;They invite accomplished singers for competitions. &nbsp;She has won so many of these kinds of shows it is mind blowing because Korea has so many incredible singers. &nbsp;There is definitely a rabbit hole here. &nbsp;To me, and I&apos;m not young, this smallish Korean women is simply the singer with the most tools in her vocal box. &nbsp;Resonance, &nbsp;power, flexibility, breath control, emotional conveyance, and a range nearly unmatched, and I love her pure tone. &nbsp;She is known for being one of the highest belters in the world. So Hyang has been described by some as the female version of Dimash, not because they sound anywhere near the same, but because she is so masterful vocally. &nbsp;Her backstory is amazing as well from what I have gathered over the last several years. &nbsp;She grew up listening to Mariah and Whitney and would sing Mariah&apos;s &apos;Music Box&apos; album over and over, but she never felt she would ever be a singer. She didn&apos;t start singing in public until around the age of 20, which seems absolutely impossible. One day in church without anyone around, the mic was left on, and she started singing and thought to herself that wasn&apos;t too bad! &nbsp;LOL. &nbsp;This is her words from an interview. &nbsp;So she started going to singing contests. &nbsp;No lessons, just competitions (eventually she had some lessons under Seth Riggs -- MIchael Jackson&apos;s vocal coach). &nbsp;She said she got a third place in a competition one time and that encouraged her. &nbsp;She met her husband at church and his family had a band so she fit right in. &nbsp;Then she got cancer and was cured and said that she would sing for the comfort of others, not to become rich and famous. She also got hepatitis and has had many, many bouts of pneumonia. &nbsp;I think she has been pretty healthy in the past couple of years. She is 48 now and her voice is still one of the best in the world. &nbsp;There is a website that lists singers and on the highest level (S Tier) they have listed Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, and Sohyang (her stage name). &nbsp;Pretty decent company. &nbsp;If you want to hear more power, her &quot;I Have Nothing&apos; at the DMC Festival in 2015 is extraordinary (Whitney would love her), as is her version of the Korean song &apos;Arirang Alone&apos;. &nbsp;Last year she went to Europe and busked with other top Korean musicians on the streets of Germany, Austria, and Spain. &nbsp;There were many great performances in &apos;Moving Voices&apos; by KBS. &nbsp;But stop like you do and pause and maybe include some filters, because of some strict copyright issues. People get past those because she is one of the most reacted to artists on YouTube. &nbsp;Thanks for the reaction!

  When reactors say that there&apos;s going to be a build up as the song progresses, indicates they have already heard this performance before. It&apos;s impossible to predict &nbsp;the direction of the song vocally. &nbsp;Every singer DOES NOT have any vocal range. &nbsp;How they start the song vocally, will be the same way they end the song. &nbsp;Madonna, Cher, Janet Jackson, Britney Spears, come to mind.<br><br>This event was in 2015, when the PHENOMENAL Sohyang was 37 years old. You are witnessing a very small sample of the flexibility in her voice. &nbsp;In 2026, not only is she aging in reverse, het vocal range is still RIDICULOUS, and her breath &nbsp;control is INSANE. &nbsp;Numerous reactors who identify as opera singers vocal coaches, etc., have indicated her vocal technique is FLAWLESS.<br>Sohyang, &nbsp;her then husband, along with some assistants, &nbsp;arranged every aspect of her live performances: &nbsp;the music, backing vocals, stahing, lighting, etc.<br>Trust and believe, every note that &nbsp;comes out of her mouth is intentional.

  Welcome to the Sohyang rabbit hole. She is one of the top 3 vocalists in the world and not many people outside of Korea know her. She&apos;s 48 years old now (this performance she was in her 30s) and still sings like this. Her roots are from the gospel/church community and still does many concerts in that space. &nbsp;Her faith is a huge part of her and her career.<br><br>If you want to react to the treasure trove of performances, I&apos;d recommend going in this order to get started:<br>Bridge -:&gt; Arrirang Alone (Immortal Song) - &gt; You Raise me Up (Immortal Song) -&gt; Lean On Me (Immortal Song) -&gt; I Have Nothing (in blue dress) -&gt; Misty (Begin Korea) - &gt; Everyone (her masterpiece .. Immortal song) -&gt; Wildflower (duet on Immortal Song) - &gt; O Holy Night (I am singer) -&gt; Amazing Grace (in the studio)<br><br>She&apos;s self trained for the most part outside of a few sessions with Seth Riggs. During the &quot;You Raise Me Up&quot; time frame she was hospitalized for bad cases of pneumonia.
