  The OEM 12-volt battery in my 2012 Camry Hybrid, lasted over 10-years. I now have over 120k miles on it and have had only one brake job (at 73k miles). &nbsp;The Toyota dealer says the second brake job may be needed in the &quot;not too distant&quot; future.

  About Feature 5 - video mentions that &quot;B is not engine braking, but increases regenerative braking ... there is no mechanical engine braking happening&quot; <br>- this is true only partially, after certain amount of regenerative braking energy is stored back in HV battery, it hits the battery State Of Charge limit to prevent charging the battery fully (on regular Toyota Hybrids this is actually quite soon, since the battery is small), then the system starts using MG1 instead of MG2 for regen, which results in engine (ICE) to start spinning and wasting larger part of the energy by compressing air without fuel in cylinders. <br>So in fact it does the engine braking as we know it from usual cars, but first the system prefer to store the energy in HV battery. <br><br>As well said in the video, use it only on longer downhill roads and don&apos;t use it for regular driving as it reduces energy efficiency when Engine braking kicks in. <br>Note: in Toyota Plug-in Hybrids (Prime models) the HV battery has much larger capacity, so it is also much less frequent that engine braking kicks in when on B mode (I observed it only after I fully charged the battery from socket/recharge station and then went some down hill with B mode shifted).

  I have 2019 Rav4 and indeed it is almost silent on electric - no speaker humm like in newer ones.

  Concerning the B mode, earlier versions use engine compression to break.

  My 2018 Camry does not have a B setting on the shifter. I have an S position that allows me to ‘shift’ between all the ‘gears’. So even tho I am not downshifting for real, the effect is just like real engine braking. And the lower I select, the more aggressively the hybrid battery is charged. Also, the 12V battery is in a compartment in the trunk. The effect on weight distribution in the car is minimal, but the battery being in a sealed, dry, protected spot, out of the typical under the hood environment, surely must have an effect on its longevity. And my mileage on the vehicle is barely 35,000. I do an oil and filter change when I switch the summer/winter tires. Admittedly a bit more then is needed, but I did the same with my previous 06 conventional Camry, and I sold it at 12 years, 120,000 miles and got good money for it. Four times what the dealer offered on trade. The car looked almost new.

  several of the item were explained. The B mode never heard of it. I don&apos;t see the B mode on my Highlander. &nbsp;I did know some of them. The dealer told me, but did not get into it. &nbsp;I have a 2026 Toyota Hybrid highlander first hybrid owned , I have owned 3 pervious Highlander and the vehicles are the best vehicle i have owned.

  2019 and 2024 RAV4’s. The manually selected EV mode isn’t for saving gas, it’s for stealth. Sneaking home too late. Approaching your burglary target. Bird and other wildlife watching.
