Thanks so much for watching! I'd really love to hear your thoughts on this one because I suspect people will come away with different opinions.

Do you think TSR expanded beyond the dungeon because players genuinely wanted different kinds of adventures, or do you think there were other reasons behind that shift? I'm curious whether this documentary changed the way you think about that part of D&D's history.

If you'd like to explore more of the ideas behind why early D&D was designed the way it was, these documentaries pair especially well with this one:

➡ 🎲🐉 How Dungeons Actually Worked in Early D&D: https://youtu.be/lVcPLnZBg3s
➡ 🎲🐉 The System Behind Exploration in Early D&D: https://youtu.be/LX2OYovtlPM
➡ 🎲🐉 Why Early D&D Didn't Try to Be Fair: https://youtu.be/k3xCKeei-iA

As always, thanks for watching and for being part of these discussions every week.

I appreciate that you don't use lazy, generated thumbnails or click bait which is unfortunately what many old-school rules channels have resorted to doing (right in the do- not recommend pile with those)

While I grew up in the 80s. I was much more of a sci-fi person. But now that I am older, I find myself more interested in the older versions of D&D and how different they were.

Once again we are treated to a history lesson chalk full of insight, and a depth of perspective that almost no other channel can hold a torch to. I can't thank you enough for giving us the opportunity watch, and learn about all the topics you cover. It is such a great game, and you treat these topics with such respect. This channel is such a gem.

Another fantastic video, Martin! The work you do is, I think, important to the hobby in general but especially so to those of us who really enjoy the history of things. The Jazz and beverage section is appealing for the same reason. It is very clear that you have a passion for these topics and it shows through in the care you show in your research. Keep up the great work! (Also enjoyed the Al Quadim piece, definitely worth the little bit of extra time!)

Thanks for another engaging video. I really enjoy the way you dig in deep to provide insights on why and how early versions of D&D developed the way the did.

Martin, I don't know if this is a point that you've done a video about before, but I think a good video topic might be like the evolution of the funhouse dungeon. You know good old dungeon land, white plume mountain, etcetera. The types of dungeons that don't make any logical sense and are not meant to be taken seriously at all. But they're a blast to both play and DM because of the wacky crazy weirdness that always comes from them.
