when cbs started televising nfl games in 56. I was nine. the giants were my local team.

My mother went to high school with Frank. Back then the high school was the only high school in Kern County. Enrollment was around 3000 students.

I grew up in Oildale and Frank was big in our family.. My dad was a school chum of Franks and was on the team at Bakersfield Community College..<br>I was fortunate years later to meet Frank at his book signing and he graciously signed his book to my dad who he remembered well..<br>I still have the picture of that moment..<br>A true legend…

I grew up in the 1960’s in the Boston area as a NYGiants fan. In the 1960’s, on TV, due to blackout restrictions, I saw 14 Giants games on TV, but only 7 Patriot games. Over time, I became a fervent Giants fan! My favorite 2 Giant players in the early 1960’s were Y.A. Tittle and Frank Gifford! Gifford was the “golden boy” from USC! I thought he was a Heisman Trophy winner, but his video didn’t mention that! He was called a “Flanker Back”! He would pass the ball as well as be a receiver! It is a lost art in the current NFL! My greatest regret is that I saw him signing footballs in a local supermarket in the 2010’s (Allendale, NJ), but was too impatient to wait in line to get his autograph! Recently, wearing a Lawrence Taylor jersey, in Wyckoff, NJ, I met Harry Carson, #53!

One thing that impressed me about Frank Gifford is that he went back and interviewed both his surviving teammates and the surviving  Baltimore Colts  for that book on the 1958 Championship Game .

Frank Gifford played before my time, but I sure caught his MNF broadcasts over the years. Did not know this background on Gifford. Nice game footage and interviews  - he was truly a huge pioneer for the NFL.

Frank Gifford is still and will always be the only player to make the Pro  Bowl at 3 positions,  In the 50"s, Mickey owned half of the town and Frank owned the other half ! for me he is the Greatest Giant ever.
