I love Poulenc's jaunty and easy-going writing. You can tell that he was a guy who liked to have a good time. Probably loved to hang out in cafes, chatting, drinking, playing dominoes. His suave modulations and piquant harmonies are just lovely.

Measure 45 is so frustratingly difficult at first but you eventually get the hang of it. Made my day when I played it mostly correct 😂

Poulenc has with subtlety combined the lyrical mood and the melancholic space; intertwined and juxtaposed well enough

Chausson has always been my favourite French composer, and I have also spent hours on end listening to the old-school ones like Rameau and Couprin, but there's just something about Poulenc that commands a great deal of my attention as well. He must have been awfully clever.
