BERLIN: Explosive! "Largest Left-Wing Extremist Group!" Left Party politician Elif Eralp a member of Red Aid for years Left Party politician Elif Eralp wants to become Governing Mayor of Berlin. Here's how her party explains the departure of its lead candidate. Elif Eralp, the Left Party's parliamentary group leader in Berlin and lead candidate in the upcoming state elections, was a member of the Red Aid association for several years. However, she resigned last year, the party's state branch confirmed to dpa. The "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung" had previously reported on this. The Berlin Office for the Protection of the Constitution (Verfassungsschutz) mentions Red Aid in its latest annual report as by far the largest left-wing extremist organization in Berlin. The report states that not all members of the association pursue anti-constitutional goals. However, the organization's and its decision-makers' opposition to the free democratic order is a reason for its surveillance by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution. ... According to Bjoern Tielebein, the Left Party's state managing director, Eralp joined the Red Aid organization while studying law in Hamburg. "Because she wanted to support people who are committed to left-wing and social issues, even if they themselves lack the necessary financial resources, by providing them with legal assistance," he stated. "She was a passive member for years and resigned last year, even before the party's lead candidacy, due to differing political views." Her membership was always transparent on her website and that of the House of Representatives. Red Aid sees itself as a left-wing protection organization According to its statutes, Red Aid sees itself as a "left-wing protection and solidarity organization" for all those persecuted because of their political activities, as mentioned by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution in its 2025 report. "It provides material and political support to those affected by criminal investigations. The sole determining factor is the left-wing political motivation behind the act." After the Left Party's election victory, Eralp declared her intention to become Governing Mayor of Berlin. In the state parliament elections on September 20, the party emerged as the strongest force by a wide margin with 25.7 percent of the vote. #berlin #left #eralp #redaid #worldnewschannel 🔔 Subscribe to our WELT-TV news channel! weltvideotv Our YouTube channels: 📺 WELT DOKU @weltdoku ⚽ WELT SPORT @welt-sport 🚀 WELT SPACE @weltspace 🛣️ WELT DRIVE @weltdrive 🪖 WELT HISTORY @welthistory 🍝 WELT FOOD @welt.food-rezepte WELT News Live Stream http://bit.ly/2fwuMPg Our Top News on WELT.de http://bit.ly/2rQQD9Q Our Media Library on WELT.de http://bit.ly/2Iydxv8 WELT TV on Instagram Instagram: welt.nachrichtensender WELT on Instagram Instagram: welt Due to numerous offensive comments, comments are currently disabled.
