Sometimes a person is so thoroughly gentle and decent and lovable that it just shines out of them naturally & without effort. Sir Derek is one of those rare people. What a joy to watch.

Thoroughly enjoyed listening to this gentle man. I will never forget I Claudius. It was probably one of the best pieces of television ever.

How sweet to hear him describe his father as a lovely, gentle man. What a treasure and acting legend Sir Derek is. He's so sharp, it's<br>delightful to hear about his childhood memories and his career. He was a blessing to his parents and a blessing to the world.

Lovely Derek. The only actor I've ever heard describe a curtain call as an opportunity to say 'thank you' to the audience, rather than the other way around. Wonderful, kind, humble man.

So Derek was really from Leytonstone. Ian McKellen always brought that up in Vicious. Love Derek, fantastic actor and comes across as one of those people you would love as a friend.

I was 12 when I saw Sir Derek as Claudius on TV and his performance has stayed with me since then. I believe it was and still is the best TV programme I’ve ever seen.
