  I’m part of a church plant in Knoxville, TN… My co-worship leader found this series a few weeks ago.. and we both became disgusted and enraged over the “flying spaghetti creature” that CCM and corporate worship has become. We aren’t comfortable with supporting CCLI (personal conviction for leading worship in this church plant), and are currently leading with public domain hymns… till we can find other options. Also, thank you for talking about ProPresenter alternatives… we have the free subscription at the moment to help with lyric display and sermon points for this weekend (first service!!), but I’m going to share this with my co-leader and our pastor for an alternative to supporting something we don’t agree with. Thank you for what you do, keep it up!!

  Unpopular opinion:<br><br>Our lack of variety and originality in our worship music has less to do with our artistry lacking depth and more to do with our spirituality lacking depth.<br><br>I&apos;ve said what I&apos;ve said.

  Appreciated the series Jonathan! &nbsp;This is a lot to think about. &nbsp;<br><br>&quot;We must care about the soul of the singer.&quot; &nbsp;<br><br>&quot;We need to remember Jesus as our first listener and our bothers and sisters as the second listener.&quot; &nbsp;I appreciated the community emphasis of this.<br><br>Church music has been a tradition of worshiping together, and not some performance on stage. &nbsp;Churches should sing together again.

  This series confirms what I feel inside when listening to the Message or the local Christian music station. I can’t get through a 15 minute trip without the cringe factor. Songs that feel irreverent or spiritually and scripturally off. Sometimes actually just dumb if you get my drift. Very self centered instead of God centered.<br>Thank you Jonathan! ❤

  I’m 65. &nbsp;Something happened in the mid 1980s. &nbsp;2 things happened. (1)“Worship” music took over Christian music somehow and (2) Christian music all started sounding the same musically. &nbsp;What I’d like to see in Christian music 10 years from now is variety. All with the same focus of Jesus and traditional Biblical values and the difference it makes in people’s lives, but expressed in a variety of musical genres(country, pop, singer/songwriter, pop country, rock, whatever). &nbsp;It may require there be multiple Christian radio stations to cater to those tastes instead of just the one electronic pop/worship of today’s Chrustian radio. And bring back the “special music” portion of worship services where a congregant sings a Christian song that both glorifies Christ and touches/challenges/comforts us. &nbsp;Maybe it’s a solo, maybe it’s a group maybe it’s just 1 guy or girl and a piano or guitar and it isn’t perfect but it touches us.<br><br>And bring back youth choirs! &nbsp;Where teenagers learn music and singing and fall in love with Jesus and each other. <br><br>That’s what I hope and pray for. &nbsp;What we have now IS NOT what we’ve always had.

  My friend, your work has already inspired a handful of people I go to the same church with who discovered you on their own (without my influence) and CHOSE on their own volition to watch your entire series. I solely came across it by chance in my own algorithm, and it has led me down the number one thing I have always suspected about modern CCM culture: someone’s making a lot of money making catchy songs, but calling it worship.<br><br>I pray and hope this starts a permanent wave of congregations stepping away from CCLI. We all need to

  Jonathan, I really appreciate how you produce these videos! You have a wonderful heart in bringing out helpful insights, but at the same time, without animosity. Its a tough challenge, especially when there are unhealthy patterns that need to be talked about. I have really enjoyed your videos. As someone who grew up with Christian music and going to concerts, its been helpful to me! Keep doing what you are doing!
