Jack, I liked your take on the awkwardness and difficulty of Skubal’s situation. Let’s give the guy some grace.

The Dodgers did hit the panic button and grounded it into a double play.

The issue with the floor of the team, like Jack said, is that it requires the pitching to be lights out all the way through. We won like that last year, but it’s not a given that way again. It’s a tough way to win.

Here's a question that has bugged me for decades. I was in Tokyo around 1987 and an American All-Stars Team came in to play a series with a team of Japanese All-Stars. In short the American team destroyed the Japanese Team. Reading Robert Whiting's You Got To Have Wa I discovered the American Team's coach Davey Johnson had a history as a gaijin player in Japan where also in short he was not treated well. But after winning the World Series with the Mets in 1986 used his notoriety to assemble and direct an American All-Star Team that would pummel not just beat their Japanese adversaries. I remember Hall of Famer Ochai complaining about how the bat hurt his hands hitting American pitching, the shock that the American catcher Pittsburgh Pirates' Pena being able to throw a runner out from the kneeling position and more. I believe Whiting used the story as a kind of Coda to his book that Japanese baseball at the time tried to create an illusion that they were on par with MLB but it just could not be sustained with this onslaught even if things went back to normal the following years with American teams coming over getting drunk, partying and not taking things seriously. I was wondering did this series have any effect on Japanese players then and afterwards that  if they wanted to play the best baseball, they had to do it outside of Japan?  Sorry for the length.  It there are books, articles or podcasts you can point to I would appreciate it.

Perfect way of stating the point that the Dodgers should have a higher floor. 100% agree. Reality is they have been underperforming all season.

How would you, Dylan, rate Will Ireton’s translation work for Ohtani?

I thought the reason for the losing streak in 2017 was due to the SI cover curse? 😅

A question for Jack. Why are you dressed like a Taco Bell employee? And Dylan, do you ever eat food out of your beard?
