  The biggest change...that changed these neighborhoods...was the interstate highways. It might have been convenient for travel but, it destroyed the businesses in the small towns. As a child,  I remember what 'they' called was '5 and dime' stores. Christmas was beautiful during those times, along with parades and someone being Santa Clause. Then came all the 'malls'. And small towns lost their businesses. It might have been nice for weather but it caused a drifting apart of people talking to each other along the streets,  parades in the towns, decorations for holidays...it felt 'magical' then. It doesn't anymore. It feels 'institutional'. Then came the Clinton's that sent all the businesses overseas to China. Jobs, at an extreme amount were lost. And American people have struggled ever since. 😢

  It’s pronounced “Yay-den” 🙄<br>I live in Amish Country, Pa. It’s the best. Wonderful neighbors and beautiful landscape. Quiet and slow is life here

  As a Philadelphian, I do agree that Kensington avenue is not the place for outsiders and insiders if you’re not careful.

  Lifelong Pa resident. &nbsp; &nbsp;Have lived half my life in two spots. &nbsp; When oil and steel left two local cities during my early years, &nbsp; It totally killed the economy in both towns. &nbsp; Franklin is rebounding, &nbsp; Oil city is sad and full of drugs. &nbsp; Altoona is also full of drugs.

  I come from Rochester, Massachusetts. Located 50 miles south of Boston, we experienced 5 murders one year in the 1970s. Given a population of 1,500, our murder rate of 1 per 300 led the nation.

  Johnstown PA was a depressing &nbsp;seedy place back in 1984. I stayed overnight once then. I couldn&apos;t wait to shake it off &amp; get out &nbsp;ASAP. There are ghosts there big time. Dispair.
