I actually loved this story. Usually there are so many holes and/or absurd situations. But this one is fairly real. I once got forced to step down (voluntary demotion), from a management position because 2 co-managers didn’t like that I did a good portion of the work. They complained repeatedly about me. I would get pulled into the office and I would defend myself and they couldn’t find any reason to demote me. I continue to do my work and one day one of these two individuals pushed me beyond my limit, and I used a mild explicative at her and told her to quit whining (I don’t usually swear). She immediately ran to management and told them I had cursed at her. Of course she didn’t say why. By the way, there were no other people present at the time. Of course I got pulled into management again. And told to step down or lose my job. The manager wasn’t interested in my side of the story. In fact, he said it doesn’t matter step down or get fired. So long story short, oops too late,😂 I placed my keys, not too gently, in front of him and walked out. I found a different position in the store under a manager that I had been under in previous years. That knew that I was a good worker. It actually turned out to be a good move because I was promoted to a different position later on and made more money than I would’ve if I’d stayed in the other position. I’m retired now so I am free of that hostile environment! If you haven’t guessed, it’s a major store that is known for a lot of controversy.<br><br><br>A funny caveat to the story, is that shortly after I “stepped down”, the keys that I placed, “not to gently” in front of the manager, became known as that, “I threw the keys at him and stomped out of the office”! I actually became legend for that before I retired.
