There’s something very special about Schubert. Even among the giants of classical music he stands apart.

This is an absolutely wonderful performance. One caveat: The cello (arpeggione) part is (mostly) written one octave higher than it is actually played.

I dedicated a red rose to Schubert when I visited his tomb for this beautiful piece.

I'm playing this with a cellist right now. It is a joy to learn and an honor to play! It is full of little difficulties you wouldn't expect just from looking at the score or from listening! I love it!

I think it's one of the most Trancsendental pieces ever written.Magestic and Devine in every respect.YoYo Ma and Emanuel Ax sound like Devine vessels. THank you for the post

i can't decide whether i like this version better or the rostropovich/britten version better. they're so different, yet i could easily listen to both for hours... grrr.... the indecision!!!
