  The old man genuinely is worried that you&apos;d get hurt getting to the cave that&apos;s why he is following you. He keeps telling to slow donw. The thing about village people, to them you are still a child and they do worry about you. That&apos;s Chinese.

  If you&apos;re staying overnight on the mountain alone, you should offer that person a cigarette or buy them a meal, and get their phone number. Make sure that if something happens to you, you can contact them to find a doctor or someone to help. You might injure your leg and be unable to walk, especially if something goes wrong at night.

  I’m a local from Chongqing, and every summer, my family goes to Moudao in Lichuan to escape the heat. There are plenty of beautiful spots nearby to explore—such as Qiyue Mountain and the ancient riverbed of the Qingjiang River—and, of course, the Enshi Grand Canyon. If you&apos;re interested, I think they are all well worth a visit.
