Honestly what makes the ending of the Thirteenth Floor even more effective is the subtle sadness of it. One because the horror is actually a rescue mission and it puts more perspective into why the characters acted the way and two the unknown fate of Karen, like, its shown they wear what appears to be masks (tho it might just be the robot dude) and Karen doesnt have one, so is she just permanently stuck in alien form, and would that effect her health cause shes not in the right conditions, would she even make it another ten years to potentially see her home planet, does her brother seeing her as an alien permanently effect their relationship, it doesnt help the line delivery of "See you in 10 years" being so ominous

That shot of the faceless aliens reaching out absolutely terrified me as a kid. I had frequent nightmares.

It's a small part of the video but I absolutely love that you include the other roles the actors have played in. It's like trivia sprinkled in lol

"Triskaidekaphobia" is the fear of things either associated with or being thirteen in number.

The Thirteenth Floor episode was the one that scared me the most as a little kid. I actually started crying because I was so terrified of the aliens, lol. Now they just look kind of silly.

The whole floor numbering thing gets even more strained if you live in a place which has cultural influences from both the West for 13 as well as the East Asian avoidance of the number 4 (because it sounds like an older character for death). So you'll get fun things like 16-storey buildings that are actually only 14 storeys high because both 4 and 13 were skipped in the numbering.

The opening of Are You Afraid Of The Dark still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up whenever I hear it. 😊
