  I do a lot of planting and grew up out in the country - not sure if you get critters in your garden beds but good, natural deterrents include cinnamon, lavender, catnip (you will attract cats 😅), human hair from your hairbrush, or cayenne pepper. You can plant lavender or catnip and sprinkle cinnamon or cayenne pepper around the beds or on the plants, especially fruit shrubs. You can also place cinnamon sticks in the ground as a perimeter. You’d have to check what would work best with your doggies but we never had issues with the above remedies and our dogs. Marigolds are also great for repelling garden pests too. <br><br>You don’t want to plant plants too deep - you want them to work to get their roots in the ground. It ultimately makes them stronger and healthier. I always try to keep the top quarter-ish of the plant exposed to the surface. You can still cover with a bit of dirt and mulch to make a mound but don’t burry the entire plant. And don’t volcano mulch around the base, a flipped over bowl is the best shape with small gentle slop formed around the base of the plant so water goes directly in.<br><br>Eggs shells and cow poop are best for fertilizer. Anytime you eat eggs, wash the shells and put them in a baggy in the fridge until use. Or in the freezer if you stock up over the winter. Some plants like more acidic soil and coffee grounds are great for that.<br><br>I hope this helps. Happy planting! <br>🌿💐🌺🌷🌸🪴
